San Ysidro Ranch Turns to Wildfire Roof Sprinklers to Become One of California's Most Fire-Resilient Estates

San Ysidro Ranch, the historic Montecito estate, partnered with Wildfire Roof Sprinklers to protect its grounds with a fully integrated wildfire protection system — combining wildfire roof sprinklers, automated environmental condition-based detection, and remote control across every structure on the property. Read the full press release below, and see how the same technology can be installed on homes across Southern California.
For a property with the history of San Ysidro Ranch, standing still was never an option. As wildfire seasons across California have grown longer and more severe, the historic Montecito estate set out to find a way to protect its hillside grounds that would hold up against the worst the region could throw at it, without disrupting the character that has defined the property for nearly two centuries. That search led to Wildfire Roof Sprinklers.
The result is a wildfire protection system built around a simple goal: give the ranch the ability to detect and respond to fire threats on its own, at any hour, whether or not staff or guests are present. Wildfire roof sprinklers now cover every structure on the property, tied together into a single system capable of sensing danger through automated, environmental condition-based detection that continuously reads temperature, humidity, and other fire-risk indicators around the estate, and reacting before a fire has the chance to spread. Individual buildings, or entire zones of the property, can be triggered automatically, by remote command, or manually on-site through the same centralized control platform — giving San Ysidro Ranch a layered response no single point of failure can take down, including the loss of power, since every core component runs independently of the utility grid.
Just as important to the ranch was that none of it should be visible. Wildfire Roof Sprinklers matched materials, finishes, and installation process to the estate's existing architecture, so the wildfire roof sprinkler system protecting the property blends into it rather than standing out — the same low-profile approach used across the company's residential installations throughout Southern California.
"A property of this significance requires more than a standard fire-safety approach," said Yury Shenon, President of Wildfire Roof Sprinklers. "San Ysidro Ranch wanted a system that could think and react on its own, faster than a fire can move. That's what we built."
"We are honored to work with the staff at San Ysidro Ranch and help protect such a property against the growing wildfire threat in California," Yury Shenon added.
